John L. Scott Real Estate is headquartered in Bellevue, WA. It currently has over 110 offices with over 3,000 brokers in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Northern California. As of 2021 John L. Scott is celebrating 90 years in business.

I was hired on as a contractor for John L. Scott as a visual designer to complete various design projects within the marketing department. The pieces I worked on include: Covid-19 signage & branded materials. Updates to Facebook Friday emails & creation of 2021 series. Create & update external & In-house emails. Designing the 2020 & 2021 seasonal campaign images sized for Facebook, Instagram & broker emails. Putting together broker requested Luxury brand marketing materials (postcards, emails, flyers & brochures). Create social media graphics for John L. Scott Foundation. Assist with Plus+ Program marketing materials. Annual award recognition lists of agents & accompanying social media award templates. Create custom resumes for brokers & much more! 


COVID-19

The COVID-19 stay-home order was enacted during my employment at JLS. I was tasked with various high turn around projects to get out to offices and employees. These include branded masks, hand sanitizer, table topers and signage for broker offices.

Facebook Fridays

Facebook Fridays was started during the COVID-19 stay-at-home order. It was set up as a way to keep brokers and associates engaged during the uncertainty. Each week a guest (or guests) were invited to speak on the John L. Scott Facebook page during a live stream where motivational or company related speakers would talk with the CEO or other John L. Scott moderator on their specific talking points.

My role in this project was to update the templates with the speakers photo, date & time, bio of speaker and their main talking points. There were three emails sent out during the week as well as social images promoting the event on both Facebook and Instagram. After the event I would add the wrap up information to a ‘recap email’ which would also promote the following weeks speaker with a short bio. At the end of 2020 I was able to design the new template for 2021.

Emails

Each week we were continually working on emails for different events and departments. Emails went through a bureaucratic process that made sure there were no errors and were consistent with brand guidelines before they were sent out. Sometimes the turn around could be within a day or reviewed over several weeks depending on the project. My role in this was to either fill an established template or create several new iterations to be filled with the approved copy and images.

Seasonal CAmpaigns 2020 & 2021

The Seasonal Campaign is for brokers to post on their social media to keep up client engagement. The John L. Scott version has twelve main holidays and various sub-holiday for brokers to pick and choose from. The Exceptional Homes (Luxury brand) has twelve holidays for the luxury brokers to choose from. I worked on the 2020 and 2021 versions of these campaigns.

My job was to create each template & search out images for each holiday. I worked with our Marketing Project Manager and Senior Marketing Director to narrow down to our top pick that would look best within the template but also convey the holiday through the John L. Scott company brand. Each holiday needed a Facebook, Instagram & email sized image that brokers could download off the MyDesk server.
